Googleは、マイクロブログサービスTwitterの買収に関する話し合いで最終段階にあるという。TechCrunchが米国時間4月2日、2人の匿名情報筋の話として報じた。

Twitter turned down an offer to be bought by Facebook just a few months ago for half a billion dollars, although that was based partially on overvalued Facebook stock. Google would be paying in cash and/or publicly valued stock, which is equivalent to cash. So whatever the final acquisition value might be, it can’t be compared apples-to-apples with the Facebook deal.
Twitter は数ヶ月前に Facebook からの５億ドルでの買収を拒否しています。Facebook より、Google の子会社になることを望んでいた、ということなのでしょうか。
Twitter 自身 Twitter Search という、Twitter 内の発言を検索するシステムを開発しており、Google に買収されることで、メインである「検索」システムを導入できます。
Google 自身も「知り合いが、今何をしているか把握する」仕組みである Twitter を手に入れることで、よりリアルタイムにユーザーの情報を把握することができるようになります。
本当に Twitter は Google に買収されるのか、今後も注目です。
